If there's a food craving term, there should also be "beach craving", it's not like you want to eat the beach, but a desire of going to an island and see the sands and the sea.
When most people say Puerto Galera, they would imagine white sand beaches, local and foreign divers snorkeling, diving and doing other water sports that this top tourist destination island of Mindoro offers. Well, I would have the same thoughts about Puerto Galera, which makes my travel buddy and I very excited to take our Vitamin Sea!
Aside from the white sand beaches there are also waterfalls in Puerto Galera, and you might also want to try parasailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, banana boat, jetski and other adventurous sports that can surely be enjoyed by tourists of all ages.
How did we get there?
From the bus terminal in Quezon City we take the JAM bus liner with the signboard of Batangas Pier via Calabarzon/Balagtas/Tambo exit. There's also other bus liners going there like Alps, Batangas Express and Ceres. Quezon City-Batangas Pier one way ticket costs P175. It is recommended that you arrive at Batangas City early in the morning because the boat first trip is 7am. Late boats going to Puerto Galera during peak season is 4pm. White Beach and Sabang one way costs P250, Upon arrival at Batangas Pier visitors should prepare for P50 as environmental fee and P30 for terminal fee.
For a place to stay VM Beach Resort is our choice. Rooms are cheap and clean, and staff are very accommodating and it's just few meters away from the beach. There's also other budget-friendly hotels and resorts like White Beach Hotel Bar & Restaurant which has bar and souvenir shop, and Villa Fernandez it's way too far from the Sabang town, well it's good if you don't want the noises at the town, and it has big balconies overlooking the water and room price is very reasonable.
Taking photos here is a stepping stone, literally. We considered being more careful because stones or rocks are very slippery, but that was actually worth it from that side of the island after witnessing the mesmerizing view of sunset.
While the sun is too harsh for swimming, we decided to take a walk around the island. We spotted many visitors doing different water sports, souvenir shops and some restaurants, for those that are considering their budget you don't need to worry about what you are going to eat, because there are also lots of bar and resto that are cheap but foods are good.
I also enjoy watching on this dog while swimming, he's a good swimmer. When I saw this dog I suddenly miss my pet tracer, I want him to be one of my travel buddies. I've seen few travelers with their pets so I think it's possible but it would be difficult if were going to commute and most of hotels don't accommodate tourists with pets. But I really want to try it sometime.

We also try to experience the nightlife in Puerto Galera,we had so much fun, the stage performers are very funny and some are doing lip sync like divas.
The fire dancers are also the highlight at that night, they are doing many tricks while dancing with fire, they do group and solo acts. Watching them makes me think that they put a lot of time and hard work at their practice because they really looks professional and amazing as we see them dancing and grooving with the fire.
There's lot of bars and drinks at nightlife and we try the best seller Mindoro Sling, you shouldn't miss to try this drink when you visit Puerto Galera.
